I received Diploma, Master degree and PhD degree from the University of Ljubljana, in 1996, 1998, and 2001, respectively. Until 2008, I worked as an assistant and later as lecturer and assistant professor in the Department for informatics, where I delivered undergraduate and postgraduate courses on Information Systems management and development. My main research interests included IT Governance, specifically the Management and Engineering of Software Development Methods and IT/IS Strategy Planning. Since 2009, I am an associate professor and the head of the Laboratory for Data Technologies. Main interests of my team include acquisition, integration, analysis, visualisation and management of large volumes of data.

Management Functions

In the last 10 years, I have led or coordinated several research and applied projects. In 2009, I co-founded a spin-off company Optilab. From 2008 till present and from 2009 till present I have been a member of the Board of the Faculty of Computer & Information Science and the company Optilab, respectively. In 2012, I co-chaired workshops at a high-quality conference CAiSE International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering.

Work in associations and expert commissions

I am a member of several domestic and international associations and work commissions, such as: Slovenian representative in the scientific association IFIP, section TC 2 Software Theory and Practice, vice-president of the Slovenian society INFORMATIKA, founding member of the Association for Information Systems Chapter Slovenia, founding member of the Project Management Institute Chapter Slovenia, member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Information System Modeling and Design IJISMD, member of the editorial board of the journal Applied Informatics, programme board member of the International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering CaiSE, program committee member of more than 10 international conferences on Information Systems and Databases, etc.

Awards

In 2010, I was awarded from the Slovenian Society INFORMATIKA for my contribution in transferring knowledge to industry.
